POKEMON CATEGORY

OVERVIEW OF POKEMON CATEGORY

In the Pokemon world, each species is assigned a unique title known as its Category, which reflects its biological traits, behavior, or essence. Categories are often named after real-life animals, plants, or objects, such as Mouse Pokemon, Blossom Pokemon, or Bell Pokemon. However, some Pokemon have unique Categories exclusive to them, such as Dusclops being the Beckon Pokemon or Dusknoir being the Gripper Pokemon.

Like Type, Move, or Ability, a Pokemon’s Category can change upon evolution. For example, Shroodle is classified as the Toxic Mouse Pokemon, but after evolving into Grafaiai, it becomes the Toxic Monkey Pokemon.

Unlike Size and Weight, Category is purely symbolic and does not influence any game mechanics in the Pokemon series.
